Location: The MAP sensor is usually located on or near the intake manifold, which is the component responsible for distributing the air-fuel mixture to the engine cylinders.
Sensor Construction: A typical MAP sensor consists of a housing with an internal diaphragm or sensing element. The diaphragm is exposed to the intake manifold pressure through a small opening or port.
Pressure Measurement: The MAP sensor measures the absolute pressure in the intake manifold. Absolute pressure refers to the total pressure, including atmospheric pressure. The intake manifold pressure changes with engine load, throttle position, and altitude.
